Fears of global food shortages have followed Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which has disrupted grain shipments from the major grain producer. But what about countries and regions that were suffering before this impending shortage? How is famine defined, and how is it different from simple food shortages? What if any remedies are there?

This fall we are excited to present new topics from global, national and area issues with information to keep us informed and prepared as family members and engaged citizens. We will be continuing the Great Decision Series of programs prepared by the Foreign Policy Association. Briefing books for this series will be provided to those who register for the
Great Decisions Programs, with the expectation that those attending will have read each program’s briefing before the presentation. If you would like to attend a Lifelong Learning program remotely, please inform us upon registration and a Zoom meeting ID will be provided to you.

The Friends of the Charlevoix Public Library, with the generous support of Lynne and Mason Rosenthal present: Fall 2023 Lifelong Learning Program. The Lifelong Learning Program was initiated in 2016 as a means of providing an opportunity to develop a greater understanding of topics and issues of broad interest that may impact us all.
