Into the Wilderness with an Axe and a Saw

In late 2021, an EF2 tornado roared across Clearwater Lake in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Almost every tree for a mile was snapped off and uprooted, twisting many into piles of dangerously tensioned wood. Wilderness regulations forbade chainsaws, so a crew, using only axes and crosscut saws, took on the project. Join Dan Dueweke to hear the story.
