Event Details
Join LTC environmental education staff at the Charlevoix Public Library for an evening with the wildflowers that close out northern Michigan's growing season in gold and purple. Goldenrods and asters are easy to overlook but they represent one of the most ecologically productive moments of the entire year, a final surge of nectar and pollen that sustains numerous animals that rely on them. We'll look closely at how to tell goldenrod species apart, why asters and goldenrods so often grow together, and what these late-season blooms reveal about the health of a meadow, roadside, or field.
