Join us at Charlevoix Public Library on Tuesday, June 7th at 6:30 pm to hear Advocate, Attorney, and Author Christine A. Yared discuss her book Private Life, Public School: Gay Teacher Under Fire. This factual account by Yared has been chosen by the Library of Michigan as one of the twenty Michigan specific books selected for 2022 Michigan Notable Books.

Yared chronicles the story of Gerry Crane, a gifted music teacher in West Michigan that in 1995 married his partner and faced repercussions until he finally resigned from the school. In 2020 the US Supreme court ruled that Civil Rights law protects LGBTQ workers from employment discrimination, unfortunately Crane passed away in 1996 from a heart attack.
