BLAST: Babysitter Lessons and Safety Training program provides training in pediatric first aid and CPR, household safety, and the fundamentals of childcare. This course helps prepare tweens and teens to interview for a babysitting job, select suitable games and activities for sitting, and learn to be competent caregivers. Topics covered include: feeding, burping a baby, dealing with crying, preparing children for bed, dealing with behavioral issues, and discipline. This is a fun class with baby manikins to diaper and feed! Instruction manuals are included and participants will earn Heartsaver CPR, AED and First Aid certification. As a Charlevoix Library patron, the fee for this course is paid for you by the Charlevoix Public Library. Registration is required, please notify us if you are unable to attend. Please bring your own lunch to eat at the lunch break, refrigeration is available.
