From the Artist: I have always found my peace in the quiet nature around me. Raised in Charlevoix on a farm with my 11 siblings (class of '75, Dhaseleer maiden name) in a small farmhouse I had the experience of living from the land and its gifts. My parents taught us the value of enjoying the simple things in life. I have always studied and enjoyed the details of nature around me, noticing much that others might not. Nature is where I have always found my peace. Painting what I see helps me stay in the moment that was special to me. I am self-taught and although studying under another artist might have been helpful, I have developed my own style of delivering what I see and feel. Living with my husband, Kirk, we lived in Southern California for our work careers, always returning to Charlevoix to visit family each year. Kirk loves it here and we planned to make it our home in retirement. Kirk is an avid woodcarver and I enjoy painting his carvings for him. -- Beth
